A.J. McCarron said he would pack his sleeping bag and his phone inside a sleeping bag bag packed with essentials, including a laptop and a laptop charger, and a water bottle.
That’s how he packs his bag for a long drive or a night hike, McCarrons wife, Lauren, said.
The NFL said in a statement the team does not offer camping services for campers.
“Camping is allowed only for players who are licensed and have the proper equipment,” the NFL said.
“The NFL has strict rules for handling camping equipment and equipment in camp.
Camping does not allow any item to be left unattended while camping.
This includes sleeping bags, food, water, snacks, water bottles, and any other item you may need.”
McCarros wife said she would pack everything but the phone in a sleeping mat, since she has no phone.
“We’re not camping,” McCarran said.
McCarrron is one of four players from the San Francisco 49ers who will return to camp this week.
He has been sidelined since suffering a concussion in Week 1.
The 49ers have already been without quarterback Alex Smith and defensive end Justin Smith, who have both missed the past two games with injuries.
The rest of the team is expected to play this week, but no one knows who will start at quarterback.
McCrearons camp is scheduled to begin Thursday.
“My goal is to be healthy, and I want to be able to go out there and play,” McCrearns wife said.
